Daniel H. Kahnweiler’s letter to Alfred H. Barr on the symbolism of Picasso’s Guernica
Daniel Kahnweiler replies to Alfred Barr regarding his question on the symbolism of Guernica. According to Michel Leiris, with whom Kahnweiler had previously spoken, it does not represent Franco or the Spanish Republic, but world suffering, with dead humans and animals.
