«Picasso packs 'em in», The New York Times, 1939, p. 5. A review in The New York Times on the exhibition Picasso: Forty Years of His Art, held in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1939, which states that the show attracted over 15,000 visitors per week, thus beating previous records for modern art exhibitions. The review also features photos of viewers with different expressions stood in front of various paintings by Picasso, expressions which the artist feels are as interesting as the paintings themselves: “concentration” before Guernica; “incredulity" before Portrait; “curiosity” before Theatre Box; “analysis” before Harlequin; and "scepticims" before Sleeping Girl.
