This article tracks the nomadic adventures of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica and its many artistic reproductions across a transnational range of contexts. Truett examines how Guernica and its image have been recirculated and revalued by contemporary American artists (Celeste Dupuy-Spencer, Robert Motherwell, Robert Longo), European philosophers (Jean-Paul Sartre, Theodor Adorno), and major international museums (Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid).
